flower pacific beauty

Last summer, in preparation for our wedding, Bud and I planted a plethora of flowers in my backyard.  We planted a lot of bulbs as well as some of my favorites, including sunflowers, seashell cosmos, zinnias and hollyhocks.  We wanted to have fresh flowers at our wedding that we, ourselves, planted and grew.  So not only did we work together in planting and maintaining our flowers up until the wedding, but we were able to enjoy their beauty all summer long.

In addition to having fresh flowers for our wedding, we also grew these same flowers at the garden at Heirloom Market & Café garden (if you are ever in the area, feel free to stop by and see us!).  Bud used a mix of flowers to outline the garden on the west side.  North of the garden we had rows of sunflowers.  In the middle of the garden, our windmill was covered with Grandpa Ott’s Morning Glories, and then of course, we had our Four O’Clocks, Love in a Mist, and Columbine.

Early in the morning, I would walk through the garden with my camera, hoping to capture some of its beauty.  One morning I was fortunate enough to capture a picture of a yellow finch snacking on a sunflower seed.  Other times I was able to capture bees floating about from flower to flower.

With their vibrant beautiful colors, flowers make a great addition to your home.  The Bible says, “Consider the lilies, how they grow:  they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these.”  (Luke 12:27)
